Welcome to the Class Page of Hitchens & Wrekin!
Year 5 & 6
We continue our exploration of World War Two looking at key figures in the war and important battles. Later in the term, we will be conducting a local area study, which will enable the children the opportunity to combine their daily walk with an exploration of the village. Whilst in our science work we will be exploring the outdoors further, with a look at animals and their habitats.
Whilst our classroom routines may look a little different at the moment, with some children learning from home and some in-school, we still hope to welcome visitors to our classroom virtually, including a second ‘visit’ with our visitor from Norway. Having established our link with Norway, we will be going on to compare and contrast the locality with our local area.
In P.E. we will continue to offer a variety of physical activities for our at-home learners and those in school, including a weekly (live) session with a local sports coach.
Whether at home or in school, Children are expected to go on TTRS (Times Table Rock Stars) and Spelling Shed at least 3 times a week. Where possible, they should try to complete 10 games on each, alongside regular spelling, and times table practice.
Our on-line learning will centre on ‘See-Saw’ and live lessons through ‘Teams’. Children will be expected to view the tasks set and upload their completed pieces.
Children should also be reading daily at home. We are introducing ‘Read Theory’ this term: an on-line reading tool, which charts your child’s progress in reading comprehension.
